Instructors: Dr. Kelsey Harvey, PhD and Luke MacDonald “Plogging” combines physical activity such as walking or running—with picking up litter. It’s an excellent way to stay active while caring for the environment. There are many ways to plog: some people use tools like grabbers, while others wear gloves to collect litter. Items can be gathered in bags, buckets, or even carts or wagons, and some participants choose to sort materials into trash and recycling. Plogging can be done as a steady‑state activity (such as continuous walking) or as interval training (running for a set distance, stopping to pick up litter, and repeating). It can take place almost anywhere, from trails and beaches to neighbourhood streets and urban parks. In this session, participants will learn: · The history and origins of plogging · What equipment is needed to lead a plogging program, including costs and where to purchase supplies · How to safely organize and lead a plogging event · How to incorporate plogging into different types of physical activities · How to adapt plogging for a wide range of abilities and intensity levels
Add cleanup photos and weight after the event so this page can show the full impact.
